Georgi Giseken (= Paul Louis Antoine van Buren Lensinck, (1907-1989))
""Allee". Komp. II." Oil on canvas, 45 x 35 cm., titled, signed and dated 1925 in paint on reverse, without frame (some minor damage).
Beautiful abstract early work from the De Stijl period, by the intriguing painter Paul Louis Antoine van Buren Lensinck, about whom only little is known. He was a descendant from an old bookprinter's family. Of Giseken, contributions are known to the periodical De Kroniek (late 1920s). In the '70s he had exhibitions in museums and galleries in Nice. Giseken was a friend of Swiss author and poet Ludwig Hohl (1904-1980). See Ludwig Hohl, Unterwegs zum Werk. Eine Biographie der Jahre 1904 bis 1937 (available online it its entirety): "Georgi Giseken, geboren in 1907, Maler und Grafiker, stammt aus Holland und heisst eigenlich Paul Louis Antoine van Buren Lensinck."
