Jan Breughel II (1601-1678) (surroundings). (Hikers at a castle with moat).
Oil on panel, 10.5 x 12.5 cm., in gilt frame.
Minor crack in panel top right with minimal loss to paint, frame with minor defects. Another possible attribution is Pieter van der Hulst (I, II, III or IV, Antwerp, 17th century). Very attractive panel, with refined details such as the playful dogs with the hiker in the foreground and the boat in the moat. Of the castle, a gatehouse can be seen on the left, in the middle turning into a long bridge and on the right finally the main building. A white bird floats on the water in the exact centre of the panel.
