Two very rare works in binding of profusely silver-decorated blindstamped leather
First quarter 19th century, both boards with many silver pins and with strip around the outside, two silver clamps (respectively with monogram "RB" and "AB"), chiselled edges and ribbed back, 13.5 x 10 cm. (lacks one pin, spine ends worn).
Contains two extremely rare Luxembourgian printings: (1) Andachtsübung des schmerzhaften Kreuzweges (...). Luxembourg, Peter Brück, Sohn, 1808, 76 p., with wood-engraved frontispiece and 14 plates (Station of the Cross). WorldCat lists only an 1810 edition, by the same publisher; (2) Elsasisches Missions-Büchlein, durch einen Priester der Gesellschaft Jesu. Ibid., idem, 1806, (10),295,(3) p. WorldCat lists only an 1811 edition at the same publisher. Endpapers have been profusely provided with annotations in pen by the family which originally owned the book.
