Leather occ. scuffed, orig. boards of atlas worn at spine and somewhat bumped edges. Last plate trifle browned, one plate with some marginal dam. to paper, a few plates with some discolouring but with little interference; altogether very good. Atlas with wide margins and untrimmed. Magnum opus of botanist Carlo Allioni (1728-1804). Linnaeus considered him one of the 'auctores reformatoris' and named the herb genus Allionia after him. BM(NH) Cat.
