Archive Klaas Pijlman (1917-2007)

File with handwritten music scores with song lyrics, several hundreds of loose leaves. Incl. psalms and music and lyrics by J.C. Adreae and O.G. Sterkenburg, writer of Dutch battle hymns during WWII, with correspondence from 1944 between them and Pijlman on rights of use + envelope with loose illustrations with the Bible story by Pijlman + two sketchbooks by Pijlman from 1953 and 1958 and two notebooks with illustrations and stories from 1929 and 1930 + two books with poems collected and handwritten by Pijlman, 1940; undated + poster for an exhibition of Pijlman in Apeldoorn, with prices on verso + 5 more.

Klaas Pijlman (Amsterdam, 1917-2007) was the son of the well-known Dutch Reformed musician Fetze Pijlman. Pijlman was a member of the Bond van Christelijke Kunstenaars and became particularly known for his illustrations in the children's bible of G. Ingwersen. He also designed an A.B.-book with Clinge Doorenbos and made illustrations for both his own books and authors such as K. Norel. Around 1950 he became known for a series of picture postcards with pastoral scenes. Scheen 1969-1970, vol. 2, p. 203-204.
