[Dutch Indies] Hortus-Bogor
Japanese album with 34 colour prints by G.F.J. Bley (1855-1944). All ± 17-22.5 cm. - and a larger colour print, ± 23-30 cm. (loose) with on reverse stamped "G.F.J. Bley. Col. Soekardi". Colour prints in good condition, with sl. worn patches, album bound with new cord.
All images of plants in their natural habitat or in a vase. Names of the plants shown on separate label below each print. The last colour print in the album is of the park in front of the Treublaboratorium. The separate colour print shows a native young man besides an Amorphophallus titanum.
*In 1918, Bley worked at Buitenzorg, where together with his student Sukardi he made colour prints at the Treublaboratorium.
