Poor, (water)stained copy (bookblock and binding); first quire (both in letterpress and engraving, therefore counted in the collation) tender; lacks ties. Copy in the variant with the engraved portrait of king Philip of Spain and his engraved arms, which have been neatly contemporaneously pasted across the letterpress aphorisms and inside the profusely decorated borders of the plates at the beginning. Also with the plates in the numbered state. The first French Plantin edition of this famous description of the Netherlands.
