LOT 1827
PASSED

[Léon Lebègue] One hundred merrie and delightful stories.

Right pleasaunte to relate in all goodly companie by way of joyance and jollily: Les cent nouvelles nouvelles now first done into the English tongue by Robert B. Douglas. Paris, Charles Carrington, (1899), only the suite of 52 coloured plates, loose as issued in 2 original portfolios, 24 x 17 cm.

First and last plate of both vols. heavily browned due to the portfolios (also several margins of plates with similar browning). Complete suite of the plates without the text (which was also published in 2 vols.). These suites were issued indepedently from the book (printed in Paris by Vve. The plates with Roman numerals in pencil indicating to which story they belong, that means this does not concern a numbering from 1 to 100 (which would mean 48 missing plates).
