Leiden, P. van der Aa, 1713, 4 vols. with consecutive paging, (28),1148 p., with the following engravings: each vol. with (folding) double-page vol. title, 1 double-page coat of arms, 1 large folding plan (31.5 x 45 cm., with small tear), 3 large folding maps, 1 double-page plate, another 3 plates and 120 full-page illustrations (within collation), contemporary uniform vellum, 12mo.
Each vol. with corner (owner's name) cut out from flyleaf, else a virtually perfect copy, finely bound in 4 separate volumes (often seen in two or three volumes). Very profusely illustrated description of ancient Rome. The same year Pieter van der Aa published the work "Rome moderne", also by François Jacques Deseine, in no less than 6 volumes. Of our work an edition in Dutch appeared in 4 volumes in 1704.
