Vol. 1 lacks the errata leaf; the protruding parts of the plates are (particularly with the first vol.) browned and frayed (the bookblock survived a fire, the original binding did not); occ. waterstaining/ affected by damp. The missing errata leaf contained the following note: "In het Eerste Deel zyn de Plaaten niet nauwkeurig genoeg uitgevoerd, om de onkosten te vermyden; maar in het Tweede Deel zullen er meer en betere uitgewerkte Plaaten in gevonden worden". This concurs with the proud remark printed on the reverse of both titles: "Dit Werk is in haar geheel, op eigen kosten van den Autheur, uitgevoerd". Rare work in the only known edition, in which the construction of bridges, quays and locks as well as the inside and outside of stately Dutch homes are extensively treated and illustrated.
