[Postincunable. Turkey] Symmachi cons. ro. Epistolae familiares,
Item Laudini eouitis hierosolymitani in epistolas Turci magni traductio (...). Strasbourg, Ex officina Ioannis Schotti, 1510, (56) leaves, 19th-century halfleather, 4to.
Somewhat foxed; old marginal annotations in pen. The final 20 pages contains the fictitious rhyming "translation" by Laudivius Zacchia (born in 1435 at Vezzano), of the letters to regional rulers by the Osman ruler Mehmet II (1451-1481). This incredibly popular work was first published in 1473, after which it was reprinted numerous times and translated into various languages.
