Small 4to, leather, title on spine in gilt stamping, ills. frontispiece with title, German eagle and view of Cologne, title page with vignette, (28), 797,(38) pp., numerous woodcuts in the text, 3 full-page woodcuts and 28 copper engravings outside the text, of which one folding. Spine with minor dam., boards rubbed, text with mild tanning, bookplate. Good copy. The number of engravings in this second edition ranges from 27 to 32 copper engravings. Kircher describes among other things the magnetism on earth and in the universe, the tides, attraction with animals and plants and the magnetic attraction of music and love. Highly interesting work by a universal renaissance thinker.
