Four drawings: (1) (Chinese opium trader addressed by high-ranking person).
Drawing in black chalk with caption in pen, dated "Duivenvoorde le 12 Dec. 1841", 8.5 x 10 cm., in mount.
Lovely caricature with a disappointed Chinese trader receiving a stern talking-to. The box with opium is placed on another box, with the text "Possessions Anglaise G. Indes". Behind the duo a person lies on the ground with coins (?) near his hand. In the background a group of European soldiers is watching. The caption: "Dis qui'il faut qui va ach'té ce poisonne [opium] to de suite (...)." And with 3 other (erotic) drawings on a bifolium (leaf 14 x 40 cm.). (total 4 drawings on 2 leaves)
