Spine head dam., older auction description to endpaper, p. 223/4 lacks a corner, text occ. with mild tanning and incidental staining, title page with crossed-out name and covered with typo-engraving. Scarce first edition (second impression, see Edmond Hoyle, Wikipedia). Indication of the author's initials after the dedication in ink.
