Beijing, Pei-T'ang, 1912, first edition printed in an unknown number of numbered copies (this is no. 269), leporello printed on one side without paging, with the three stamps: large red stamp at the end and 2 smaller stamps to the colophon and to the half title, 7 large reproductions of calligraphed characters, original decorated/ marbled wrapper, thin large 8vo.

Waterstained at beginning and end; the fragile wrapper loose, discoloured, torn and damaged. Rare first edition of this interesting collection of poems, reprinted countless times, by Victor Segalen (1878-1919), French author, doctor, archeologist, ethnographer, China insider and opium user.
