Design 'Steunt Artis' Hongerwinter (?)

*During the Dutch famine of 1944-45, the Artis zoo suffered heavily. The animals were underfed and were in constant danger to be consumed themselves (a pig disappeared in 1945). Although the design is undated, we suspect it to date from that winter.
