Engraving by Antoine Trouvain after a drawing by Jean-Baptiste Nattier, said drawing after a painting by Peter Paul Rubens, issued at Paris by Du Change, 49 x 34 cm., framed (mild foxing).

From the series of 25 engravings titled "La Galerie du Palais du Luxembourg peinte par Rubens, dessinée par les Sr. Nattier et gravée par les plus Illustres Graveurs du Temps (...)" (1710). Scene: small ship decorated with floral tendrils and escutcheons, with Maria de' Medici centered pointing at the helm ("regering"), held by her son, king Louis XIII. Also present are France personified (standing behind Maria de' Medici) and the 4 rowing personifications of Courage, Justice, Unity and Piety.
