Engraving after Hendrick Goltzius (1558-1617), the first from the series of famous women of the New Testament, 19 x 13.5 cm., printed signature top right, numbered "I" in bottom left corner and with poem in Latin after Balthasar Schonaeus below the image, affixed to mount with pin (minimal rust spots).
Hollstein Dutch, 35, third state (of six), with the address of Johannes Janssonius below the poem. Good impression on paper with watermark crowned fleur-de-lis and with good, narrow margins. Mary Magdalene, weeping, in her hand a jar with balm. In the background she anoints the feet of Christ during his visit to Simon the Pharisee.
