auf Befehl der Chilenischen Regierung im Sommer 1853-54 unternommen und beschrieben von Doctor Rudolph Amandus Philippi (...). Nebst einer karte und XVII tafeln. Halle, E. Anton, 1860, IX,(1); 192; 62 p., with the following (tinted) lithographs: folding, lithographed map, 10 views, 2 folding profiles, 2 plates with fossils, 6 (handcoloured and gum-heightened) plates with animals, 1 plate with shells and 6 plates with plants, original cardboard, folio.

Waterstaining to foot margin; tanned in margins; here and there somewhat foxed. Binding with some edgewear. Nevertheless, still a good copy. Philippi (1808-1904) was a German botanist and geologist who moved to Chile in 1851, where he became professor of botany at the university of Santiago. This relatively rare work is the result of a voyage through the desert of Atacama, from Taltal to Copiapó. Stafleu & Cowan 7850.
