Unique framed collage of buttons on card with handwritten text by Ben. 17.5 x 14.5 x 1 cm. Provenance is the private collection of George Brecht. Acquired by Tjeerd Deelstra from Brecht's girlfriend Anna Lovell in London in 1972.

The work is mentioned under 'Other works by George Brecht's friends' in the list 'Anna Lovell's Collection of work by George Brecht and other Brechtania'. A copy of the document is added to the lot. The collage seems to fit into the theme 'Le manque' (lack) which Vautier explored in the period 1959 to 1962. One loose button is added in a separate envelope. Age toning and soiling on card, yet a beautiful rare item.
