[Guicciardini] Description de touts les Pays-Bas
Par Messire Loys Guicciardin G.H. Florentin. Avec toutes les cartes geographiques desdits Pays & plusieurs pourtraicts de villes nouvellement tierez en belle perspective par M. Pierre de Keere [Petrus Kaerius]. (...) Add. Pierre du Mont [Petrus Montanus]. Arnhem, Johannes Janssonius & Petrus Kaerius, Amsterdam, 1613. Leather, 4to oblong, spine title in gilt stamping, illustrated title with historical and allegorical figures. (10),606,(38) pp. and 77 copper engravings, most of cities and a few of buildings. Also a large number of woodcut head- and tailpieces.
The 1613 Janssonius, Arnhem edition is a quite shabby one. [Cf. Guicc. Ill. H. Deys et al., p. 60-63]. The work should contain at least 79 prints. This copy lacks the printed title page and 2 prints. The 23 prints to be added (according to the Table des Pages at the front) were to be added later, as these were not print-ready at the time of printing, and copies are known with extra prints and maps. In reality, this addition often did not take place.
Various ann. in the text and name to endpaper and title page, the first 18 numbered pp. tanned and with small stains, several light water stains, a few small wormholes; several pp. with restoration, one restored leaf lacks a corner (Sluis). Paging inaccurate, else a good copy.
