[Militaria. Aviation] Private archive Volkel Air Base
of the Welzijnszorg officer Lieutenant Th.R.J. (also R.Th.) Brink stationed at the base, consisting of 5 albums with photos, clippings, letters, announcements, cards, several issues of the De Peeljager magazine for the air base, programmes etc., many with annotations, from the 1956-1959 period.
Incl. reports of the stunt team of the base, a visit by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, an announcement reporting that the canteen will begin selling chips, photos of concerts, army manoeuvres and pin-up models, menus for the officers' casino and wedding and funeral announcements of colleagues. Also a report of a court martial session, in which a corporal was tried for biting a girl after drinking some ten glasses of beer. The prosecutor was not impressed: ten glasses of beer were nothing to a Limburger, perhaps if they had been 20 or so. A splendid image of daily life at the base.
