[Rome. Barbault] Nouveau recueïl de vues
des principales eglises, places, rues et palais de Rome moderne et des plus beaux monuments de Rome ancienne dans l'etat qu'ils se trouvent aujord'huy, dessinees et gravees par des habiles maitres. Rome, Bouchard et Gravier, 1776, letterpress title with engraved title vignette and 51 (of 59) splendidly engraved plates on heavy paper by Freicenet, Giraud, Montegu and Carloni after Jean Barbault, loose-leafed as issued, oblong large folio.
Lacks 8 views. Title and all plates with middle fold (sometimes sl. torn in, 1x torn); most plates frayed (several with minor marginal damage) and/or waterstained (several with paper affected) in very wide margins, several also in the image. Despite the defects a very well-restorable set, most prints with an entirely unaffected image. Very large series of an extremely rare publication (much less common than the 1763 edition).
