Folio, leather, 2 uniform vols. with previous owner's name in gilt stamping on spine, 2x half title and 2x illus. frontispiece with titles by Cornelis Galle after P.P. Rubens.

(32),707,(1) + index and (4),678 pp. + index and large printer's mark on last leaf of both vols.; complete with more than 40 full-page copper engraved portraits. Bindings with light traces of use, endpapers somewhat tanned, text and engravings in very good condition. Haraeus (Frans van der Haer) was a catholic priest, theologian, historian and geographer. His works depicted the catholic point of view relating to the Dutch revolt against the Spanish king. (total 2)
