He is known for Andy Warhol's Flesh, Cry Baby with Johnny Depp and The Limey by Sotherberg, he featured on the jeans cover photo of "Sticky Fingers" by the Rolling Stones, and Little Joe from Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side" referred to him.
