Pollock's Toy Theatres

Collection of ± 90 (autotype) paper Pollock's scenes, figures, tricks, decor pieces etc. for various plays, several handcoloured, each leaf ± 17.5 x 22 cm. London, B. Pollock/ J. Redington/ J.K. Green, c. 1880-1910.

Part of these theatre leaves were intended for one specific play, another part was to be freely used in every play. Priced at 'a penny plain and twopence coloured'. This collection with 2 complete sets for the play Douglas (each 4 figure plates, 5 scenes and 2 decor pieces, all uncoloured), with accompanying original book, each of the 5 figure plates with the play Lord Darnley (handcoloured, 2x with cut-out piece) and the accompanying orig. book (in poor condition) and loose scenes incl. from Whittington and his Cat (11x), The Corsican Brothers (7x), The Miller and its Men (4x), Blackbeard the Pirate (4x), The Blind Boy (3x), Don Quixote (2x) and Baron Munchausen (2x).
