Small 8vo, original brown cloth, half title, title with small vignette, engraved and coloured frontispiece with chess problem dedicated to Paul Morphy, XII,563 pp. and catalogue. Historical sketch, the games, blindfold chess, games from the problem tournament and various essays also published in "Chess Monthly". Bookblock broken between p. 288 and 289, else a very good copy of this first edition.
The tournament was won by Paul Morphy to whom the tournament book, which appeared two years later, was dedicated. LN 5184.
