Unique set with 309 plates (lacks only the plate of Bruno van der Dussen) and 215 extra plates. Of the plates, no fewer than 152 have the added original signature of the historical person depicted. The signatures were collected (probably already in the 18th century) by cutting them from original documents (vellum and paper) and mount them below the portraits. Signatures include those of Napoleon, Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, William Pitt the Younger, Robespierre, Martinet, Blois van Treslong, R.J. Schimmelpenninck, Pichegru, Balthazar Huydecoper, Willem V and John Adams. Seals of Cornelius de Jong van Rodenburgh and Ridder van Kinsbergen.
