Tanned/ stained at beginning and end, else in good condition. The wrapper with blind stamp (with place name Lyme Regis) of John Fowles (1926-2005), English novelist and essayist. In 1974, Fowles' 46-page text Shipwreck appeared; clearly a theme that resonated with the author. The famous shipwreck from the present work took place in 1696, the first edition appeared in 1699. The work is mostly important for its descriptions of American Indians and is considered one of the best "captivity tracts".
