[Suriname] Photo archive of Lambertus Johannes Rietberg (1870-1924)

Extensive photo archive of the Lieutenant Governor of Suriname, Rietberg (in 1920, 1921 and 1924).

Comprising a Paramaribo panorama photo (small tear to top centre), 68 x 16 cm.; private photo album of L.J. Rietberg (Rietberg's son) with 89 photos related to life in Suriname, comprising snapshots of the Drogerij Maalstroom, a classroom photo, hospital Maalstroom, inspection of the parade, etc. Photos nearly all 6 x 11 cm. + 6 portraits of the Lieutenant Governor, incl. portrait gifted to him for his contributions to the provincial government of Utrecht, 1912 + 34 glass negatives, c. 1920. Mostly Suriname + 48 loose photos of which 23 on board, mostly Suriname. Also a letter with declaration of support from the Queen at the death of Governor Rietberg (signed by the secretary) and idem signed by the minister of Colonies. Added several newspaper editions related to the passing of Rietberg, 1924 - and 4 books.
