Jaap van Dam (1876-1972). "Vereenigde Zeepfabrieken"

Gouache and watercolour of a float, 27.5 x 35 cm, signed and dated 1896 with pen lower r. and titled lower l., attached to cardboard with upper margins, on the holder lower l. in pen "kroningsfeesten 1896".

The coronation celebrations of Queen Wilhelmina took place in 1898 and not 1896, but preparations started long before 1898. The future queen would be gifted a carriage developed in 1896 (the Gouden Koets). Perhaps Van Dam already took the coronation celebrations into account in his designs at the time.
