George Aleeff (surname written "Aleef" and other variations) was a Russian Oriental painter, who was a soldier in the czar's army before leaving to Palestine in 1917. He lived here until the Palestinian exodus of 1948. He eventually settled in Jordan and started an art academy for young Jordanese artists.
