[Johannes Uytenbogaert. Remonstrants] Collection of 23 pamphlets,
published in various places, 1610-1639, mostly without bindings/disbound, all small 4to size.
Important collection of (rare) pamphlets by/ on/ against Johannes Uytenbogaert (1557-1644), Dutch pastor and court pastor of Prince Maurice of Orange and a key figure of the Remonstrant movement from 1610 onwards. Prince Maurice chose the side of the Counter-remonstrants, and Uytenbogaert fled the country, only to return after the death of Maurice in 1625. Several titles: (1) Predicatie door Johannem Wtenbogart bearbeydet, in welcke hy de voor-naemste gronden syns laetsten boecx, handelende vande macht der politiker overheydt in kerckelijcke zaken, met syn verklaringe betoont, gheensins syn ghevoelen te bevestigen. The rare first edition, PiCarta only lists 2 copies of the Schiedam, 1610 edition, mentioning the existence of our Delft variant; (2) Copye van de Remonstrantie, die opt eynde der mondelijcke conferentie den Ed. Mogenden Heeren Staten is overghelevert by de ses predikanten (...). N.pl., n.publ. (Johannes Becius), 1612, (4) p., woodcut title vignette, without binding, sm. 4to. Remnants of wax seal on title p. Sm. (restored) dam. spots and a trifle browned. With bookplate of the Belgian poet and playwright Victor de la Montagne (1854-1915) on final p. Knuttel 1946. The six pastors signed for the text in print at the end: Ruardus Acronius, Libertus Fraxinus, Petrus Plancius, Iohannes Bogardus, Iohannes Becius and Festius Hommius; (3) Naerder-bericht ende openinge van de proceduren by den kercken-dienaren Remonstranten, ghehouden inde teghenwwoordighe verschillen.
