Manuscript recipe book, 164 lvs of which 71 pages with recipes in various hands (else blank) incl. 6 pages with alphabetical index, contemp. half roan w. vellum thumb index along fore edge, 22 x 14 cm (large 8vo size).

Index tab B loose, but preserved. Very well preserved recipe book by/for Johanna Christina van Someren Van Vrijenes (also Christina Johanna) (1759-1834), married to Ernst Willem Fabricius. Includes a few loose recipes: "Om schuim chocolaad te maken" and "Pruimen in't zuur", and a few blotters. Also contains several medical or technical recipes, e.g. for making various colours of paint.
