[Binding] Carlos Garcia. L'Antiquité des Larrons
Ouvrage non moins curieux que delectables: composé en Espagnol par Don Garcia: et traduit en François par le Sr. Daudiguier (Vital d'Audiguier). Paris, T. Du Bray, 1621, (8),245,(3) pp., woodcut printer's mark on title, beautifully bound in early 19th cent. speckled calf, both covers with central gilt coat-of-arms of Charles Stuart de Rothesay (1779-1845), surrounded by a gilt border, gilt spine w. mor. letterpiece, all edges marbled, sm. 8vo.
Vaguely waterst. in blank upper and lower margins; leaf A2 loosening. Gilt border on backcover rubbed away along spine; frontcover with a rubbed spot also affecting the gilt border in 1 corner. A very attractive copy despite these defects. Palau 97791. First edition of this French translation of this picaresque novel. Fittingly, the adventures take place in Lyon and Marseille.
