Wenceslaus Hollar (1607-1677). (Portraits of a black boy and a black girl)

Two etched pendant portraits, 8 x 5.7 cm each, signed and dated 1645 in the plate, the portrait of the girl also with "Antverpiae" in the plate.

Both fine contemp. impressions on paper with watermark in the shape of 2 small circles. A few thin spots, the portrait of the boy with a sm. tear in upper margin. Rare portraits of assumedly victims of the slave-trade wearing servants clothes typical for the Netherlands at the time, when it was fashionable to have exotic servants (total 2).
