[Amsterdam] Small wooden box
Dutch, late 18th century. 7 x 18 x 10 cm. Ornamented wood, metal holding, clasp and lock, leather hinges, inside covered with pasted-on English newspapers. Hinges loose, damaged on back and left side.
*Paper on inside cover gives an indication of the possible owner or carpenter: 'Amsterdam/Jacob Mensier en soon. In de Halsteeg in de Vergulde Klock. Verkoopt men Engelze, Franse en Neurenburger Waare.' De Halsteeg became De Damstraat in 1868.
