[Movable books] Fred. E. Weatherly. Touch and go
A book of transformation pictures, with verses by Fred. E. Weatherly. Printed in Bavaria for E. Nister in London and E.P. Dutton & Co in New York, n.d. (ca. 1894), 4 pp. followed by 8 movable chromolithogr. transformation plates w. short verse below and juxtaposed text, orig. clothbacked chromolithogr. boards, folio.
Skillfully restored copy. Sm. (closed) tears and occ. lacking (restored) pieces; most board pulling-slips renewed; owner's entry dated 1906 on first free endpapers. Recased. Occ. other minor internal and external defects. Still a good copy for its kind, with all plates fully functioning. The nice verse at the end has clearly been followed by the original owner: "Now all you little children/ who read these pages through,/ remember books have feelings/ as much as each of you;/ So do not tear the pictures out,/ leave each one where it fits;/ for Nister, though he makes your books,/ will not pick up the bits."
