Johannes ter Gouw (1814-1894). Autograph signed poem
Sheet size 14,5 x 21 cm, 17 beautifully written lines, signed and dated "Hilversum, Maart 1884" below, mounted on a stiff paper bifolium with on the other side an original photographic portrait of Ter Gouw.
With blindstamps of the "Schlaraffia Toneel Fonds J.L. Wertheim Amsterdam" (1x in the sheet of the poem, 2x in the mount). With annotation by Ter Gouw in lower left corner: "Uit: Cicero, de Senectute, §. 78 (...)." Ter Gouw was a Dutch teacher and belletrist who became famous for his historical works such as "De geschiedenis van Amsterdam" (1879-1893).
