Condom "Voila mon choix"
Made of animal intestines, length 20 cm., France, ca. 1830, with a lithographed erotic scene depicting a nun choosing between three clergymen: "Voila mon choix".
Extremely rare early example of a nicely decorated condom, in remarkably good condition, with the linen ribbon for fastening it still in place. The nun, sitting in a chair with her habit lifted up, has three dissimilarly dressed men exposing their differently shaped genitals to her. She points at the man standing in the middle, her choice. The use of animal intestines for condoms predates the invention of the vulcanization-process by Goodyear in 1839, after which rubber condoms could be produced.
