Century 87. Today's Art face to face with Amsterdam's past

Important show with site specific installations by international artists held all over the city of Amsterdam in 1987. At the time this was a rather new concept, curated by Sjarel Ex, Els Hoek et al. Comprises the regular catalogue as well as the 3D catalogue which consists of a viewfinder with disks. Participants included Anselmo, Boltanski, Byars, Clemente, Daniëls, Dokoupil, Scholte, Dujourie, Dumas, Flanagan, Holzer, Laib, Mol, Paik, Tremlett, Zwillinger and others.

Contains: (1) Exhibition guide, 168 pp. Wrappers with blue plastic sleeve and white string, includes a map of Amsterdam listing the projects. (2) Red viewfinder with 1 disk inside. (3) 3D catalogue consisting of 4 picture disks meant to be inserted in the viewfinder. The disks are mounted on a card with a printed contents list. (4) Vinyl album in illustrated sleeve, containing the Century 87 sound and light installation by Peter Baren for Munt Tower. The roaring sound of a deer in heat disrupted the passersby and in the evenings a hissing gas flame was heard. (5) A transparent sachet containing blue pebbles from Daan van Golden's contribution 'Agua Azul', all paths of the Hortus Botanical Gardens were filled with blue painted gravel, creating a mesmerizing effect.
