Nam June Paik ephemera from the collection of Dorine Mignot and Wim Beeren
Includes original drawing, cards and letters. (1) Original drawing depicting 2 TV monitors, 21.5 x 18 cm, blue pen and orange crayon on white sheet, dedicated 'for Wim Beeren', signed, undated. Toning and creasing, stains on verso not affecting the front. (2) 4 postcards sent by NJP to Miss Mignot/Stedelijk Museum in 1977 and 1978. Contains handwritten text and drawings. (3) B/w photograph, 13 x 9.5 cm, handwritten text on verso 'Paik met TV-Buddha en TV-Denker'. (4) Original letter from E. de Wilde (director Stedelijk Museum) to NJP, May 3 1977, about purchasing TV Buddha.
5) Original letter NJP to 'dear beautiful lady Mignot', undated 1977. (6) Photocopied letter NJP to Dr. de Wilde, Sept. 25 1977, regarding TV Buddha. 'sorry we missed each other in summer of 77 in europe.. However I enjoyed very much my nasi goreng special in MY restaurant near Leichter Plein and herring, which miss mignot cooked for me that evening.' (7) Original letter NJP to Dr. de Wilde and Ms. Mignot Sept 29 1977, about sending Buddha. (8) 17 mostly photocopied sheets with various articles regarding NJP. Dorine Mignot (1944-2018) was curator at the Stedelijk from 1974 to 2006, in 1977 she curated a large Paik exhibition at the museum. Wim Beeren (1928 -2000) was curator of the Stedelijk from the mid 60s to early 70s and headed the museum from 1985 to 2000.
