*Paul Wilke founded the circus in 1889, and was most famous for its excellent horse dressage shows. The Scandinavian circus toured the Netherlands on many occasions between 1905-1920, even performing for Queen Wilhelmina, her husband Duke Henry and her daughter princess Juliana at the gardens of 'Palace Het Loo'. After Paul’s death, the circus fell apart.
