Motion in Vision
Antwerp, Hessenhuis, 1959. 21 x 21 cm, 26 pp. Artists' book in conjunction with the exhibition organized by Pol Bury, Paul van Hoeydonck, Jean Tinguely and Daniel Spoerri at Hessenhuis in Antwerpen, Belgium, March 21 - May 3, 1959. Participating artists were Breer, Bury, Klein, Mack, Mari, Munari, Mecker, Rot, Soto, Spoerri, Tinguely, Van Hoeydonck.
The publication is a very tactile compilation of artists contributions including cut-outs and fold-outs by Emmet Williams, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, Pol Bury (handmade incisions in two empty pages), Dieter Rot (Unfoldable Square), Jean Tinguely and P. Van Hoeydonck. Heinz Mack added a piece of aluminum foil to the cover, which unfortunately is missing from this lot, as is Tinguely's reproduction of his manifesto 'Fur Statik'. Cover is spotted, staple binding loosened at last pages and there are two missing artists' pages, but still a gem. Rare document on the Zero Group and Nouveau Realisme.
