Willy Scholte, cards and Mail Art database
Includes a set of 26 elaborately rubberstamped cards by Dutch mail artist Willy Scholte. Some in envelopes, mostly unmailed copies. All cards were made at the Stempelplaats workshop in the late 1970s early 1980s. Scholte worked at the venue, hence close to the heart of Mail art activities.
Comprised in this lot is a rare document: Scholte's database consisting of
55 alphabetically organized filing cards with names and addresses of her Mail Art contacts, with notes keeping track of what was sent. The index cards provide great insight into the international network, listing Aart van Barneveld/ Ulises Carrion, Bart Boumans, Bruscky, Ryosuke Cohen, Crozier, Duch, Groh, Ropiecki, Schraenen, Shozo Shimamoto, Olbrich, Petasz and Piepol among others.
