Lacking 5 plans: Antwerp nova pl. (E); Antwerp descriptio (E2); Breda nova pl. (O); Buscam ducis etc. (Q); and Herderwicia descriptio (Ee2). Also lacking both engr. title-p. and letterpress title-p. of part 2. The Nijmegen plan (after B&H) replaced by a copy without text verso. Some plans w. sm. tears repaired w. sellotape, left half of plan of the Hague (Ff) loose, other half repaired w. sellotape, sl. waterst. to upper right corner in part 2 (not affecting plans/ text), sl. foxing. Janssonius acquired the plates of F. Hogenberg's "Civitates orbis terrarum" that were mostly unaltered, and incorporated them in his town atlases. In the index at the end of part 2 these were referred to as "vetus pl." unless being altered, amended or reworked, in which case the index mentions "novus pl." For Dutch cities, he ordered newly engr. copperplates after Blaeu's orig., after A. van Slichtenhorst or M. Zeiler. The index refers to these as "novus pl." as well. Ref.: Koeman-vanderKrogt. Atl.
