Complete series of 4 allegorical engr., all 13 x 17 cm, numb. "1" to "4" in the plates, the first print w. "G. Valk ex." and "C. van Dalen Excudit" and "No. 106" in the plate, ca. 1700. Under unif. passepartouts. All sl. foxed/ browned. Very nice complete series of personifications of the continents. (5) (America). Allegorical engr. by Adriaen Collaert (1555-1618) after Maerten de Vos (1532-1603), 20.5 x 26 cm, numb. "4" in the plate and w. 4-line Latin verse below, ca. 1590. Trimmed on the borderline, lower margin lacks a sm. blank portion (restored) and w. sm. tear, some other imperfections. Fine contemp. impression. Beautiful engr. of a personification of America sitting on the back of a giant armadillo, w. interesting details in the background. -and 3 similar engr. in fine impressions, showing personifications of America, Asia and "Meridies" by Johannes Sadeler after Th. Bernard, dated 1581/ 1582 in the plate (America and Asia mounted, all 3 trimmed to/ just outside the borderline).
