[House of Orange] [Portraits] Two mezzotint portraits of William III of Orange
(1) Pieter Schenk (I) (1660-1711). "Deez groote Wilhem, uijt het edel huijs Nassauw, betoont aan 't vaderland en nagebuur zijn trouw (...)". Mezzotint full-length portrait, 25 x 18.3 cm (incl. engr. verse by "J.D.W." below), signed "P. Schenk fecit et exc. Amstelodama cum privile.", mounted at upper margin. A fine contemp. impression on laid paper w. unidentified central watermark (crowned shield), w. thread margins, in very good condition. Very fine, detailed mezzotint print. (2) Gerard Valck (1652-1726). "Wilhelmus D.G. Mag. Brit, Franc, et Hib, Rex. &c." Mezzotint portrait, 35 x 25.5 cm (incl. caption and signature below), signed "G. Valck Exc. Cu Privile: Ord. Hollan. et West Frisia" in the plate, mounted at upper margin.
Fine contemp. impression on laid paper, w. thread margins. A few tiny holes, at the top a fold and some sl. rubbed/ dam. spots in upper margin, but acceptable. A splendid large portrait. (total 2)
