Early 20th cent. (most 1920s and 30s). 11 programs, most in French for recitals in Paris. Incl. 3 photogr. of Inyoka, 1 by Emile Marchovitch and 2 w. stamp "Alban Paris" recto. -and 2 other pieces of Inyoka memorabilia and 2 other dance programmes, incl. one for a recital featuring the French-Russian ballet dancer Serge Lifar.
Some duplicates. Some programmes w. sm. tears, browning, water dam. Inyoka was a French-Indian dancer and choreographer. Her dances and costumes appealed to the Western fascination w. the exotic, ancient and "oriental" in the 1920s and beyond. She danced often in both Paris and New York, appearing at both the Folies Bergère and in vaudeville acts. (total 18)
