Hélio Oiticica (1937-1980) was a leading figure in the Brazilian avantgarde in the Sixties and Seventies, known for his participatory works of art, performative environments and the founding of the artistic movement Tropicalismo, which included artists such as Lygia Clark, Lygia Pape and the poet Ferreira Gullar.
